This CD-Storybook combination brings Tom Paxton's song about The Marvelous Toy to life in two forms of media; the book is based on the folksy song about a toy that zips, bops, and whirls to the wonderment of a father, his son, and one day the recording features traditional folk instruments including a guitar, banjo, bass, and shaker. The Marvelous Toy Lyrics: When I was just a wee little lad / Full of health and joy / My father homeward came one night / And gave to me a toy / A wonder to behold it was / .

Neither one of us knows just what it is, but she loves just like me! Disclaimer: The song The Marvelous Toy was written, printed and recorded by Tom Paxton. However, the characters within this story is strictly a product of my imagination. I reserve all copyright to repost this story. Since it was finished at just seconds to Christmas Day , I've only very roughly looked it over for . Marvelous Toy (Tom Paxton) When I was just a wee little lad full of health and joy My father homeward came one night and gave to me a toy A wonder to behold, it was, with many colors bright And the moment I laid eyes on it it became my heart's delight It went "zip" when it moved and "bop" when it stopped And "whirr" when it stood still.

The toy is truly unfathomable: Sayles gleefully depicts it as a honking, blinking, rolling robot/musical instrument that may have a vacuum cleaner in its ancestry. While her invention can never live up to the imaginary pictures readers will have installed in their minds, it certainly comes close. (Picture book. 5+).   The Marvelous Toy is now also available as a multi-sensory digital children’s book from MobiStories October 8, by Tom Paxton in News Available as a mobile app for iPhone (and soon iPad), as well as a PC version, the digital version of “The Marvelous Toy” cleverly combines the music and lyrics with Steve Cox’s stunning illustrations.
